The Word For You Today!

Down but not out

Thursday, 14 July 2011
'...we are knocked down, we get up again.' 2 Corinthians 4:9 CEV
Do you ever feel like you keep getting knocked down, and as soon as you pick yourself up and brush off the dust, you're knocked down again? It makes you feel like a failure, but get this - YOU'RE NOT!
Pretty much every time you're knocked down, if you stop and look, you'll learn something. So although it may not feel like you're getting anywhere, when you look back you'll see that with each fall you've taken a little step further forwards. It's so easy to focus on the negatives because the devil is spending all his time trying to make you feel like rubbish, a pathetic failure. You don't want him to win, do you? No! So next time you're knocked down and feeling beaten, try saying, 'Take a hike, Satan, you're not gonna keep me down.' Keep going with a smile on your face, thinking about what you can learn from the latest fall.
Remember too, that the things you do with ease now weren't that easy to start with. An article inThe Wall Street Journal said: 'You've failed many times...you may not remember. You fell the first time you tried to walk... Did you hit the ball the first time you swung the bat?... the ones who hit the most home runs, also strike out a lot.'
Getting knocked down certainly doesn't make you a failure - but getting back up again is the key to becoming a success.
